Laura Freeman: Music

Green

(Laura Freeman)
Leaves start whispering in the trees
Lizard leapt up and laughed
Grass too tall tickled turtles chin
Frog hopped on lily pad

Katydid sang a sweet melody
Grasshopper joined on the fiddle
Alligator thumped out a low bass note
Garter Snake joined in the middle
CHORUS
And they sang
Green So Green
Bright green dark green in between
It’s great to be green

And in the garden
Spinach and chard were swaying to the beat
Pea pods started shaking
Lettuce almost wilted with delight
Zucchini started quaking

Arrugula and cilantro got extra spicy with all the fuss
Even caterpillars chomping on the broccoli got caught up in the buzz

Chorus

Bridge
Green rain forests cleaning the air
Green veggies on our plate
Any way you look at it
I do mean green is great

Well the wind took that song along and pretty soon
Deep down in the jungle you could hear that tune
Out on the desert the cacti were swaying
High up on the mountain even lichen were saying
And Down in the ocean the seaweed started singing
All over this big blue green world that song was ringing
