Mule Song
(Laura Freeman)
Mule Song by Ed Skoog
Ed Skoog is a poet. You can find his work on line
He sings this song with a lovely tenor voice and plays the banjo. Hi Ed!!
Well I’m a mule I got two buck teeth
You don’t need a pickup just my own four feet
One foot after the other I built this old town
And one dark dusty day I’m gonna tear it back down
I hauled the cotton from the field to the gin
Where they turned it into overalls and I hauled it back again
I hauled the red brick that runs beneath your feet
I hauled the sugar that makes your tea sweet
I also hauled the tea you put your sugar in
And if you’ve got a drugstore ceiling I probably hauled the tin
Well I’m a mule …
My mammy and my pappy were from two different worlds you might say
One would whinny and the other would bray
Well I’m a mule…
